Dhangadhi, September 16 – Nepal will host Bangladesh for a three-match T20 International series in Kirtipur in March 2027 as part of a joint initiative by the Cricket Association of Nepal (CAN) and the Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB).
According to a statement issued by CAN, the three matches will be played on March 26, 28 and 30, 2027.
The series will be historic for Nepal as it will be the first time a Test-playing nation visits the country to play a bilateral series. It will also be the biggest bilateral series hosted by Nepal to date.
The series will be dedicated to the memory of those who lost their lives in the devastating floods that recently hit Nepal. CAN and BCB said the matches will pay tribute to the deceased while expressing solidarity with bereaved families and communities affected by the disaster.
The two cricket boards described cricket as an important means of bringing the people of the two countries closer and said the series would carry a special message of friendship, humanitarian solidarity and cooperation.
The partnership between CAN and BCB will extend beyond the T20I series.
BCB has committed to supporting Nepal’s women’s cricket, age-group cricket and capacity-building programmes, according to CAN.
The two boards will also encourage future tours by the Nepal A team and bilateral A-team series.
CAN and BCB said they were committed to using cricket to convey a message of unity, empathy and solidarity between the two neighbouring countries during a difficult period, while strengthening long-term cooperation for the development of Nepali cricket.
